We are using the toggle field "Major incident" in Jira to tagged as such.
When the ticket is viewed in portal, the widget is not present.
Would be nice information to share with our customers since we don't use Statuspage.
Does anyone has the same problem or workaround available?

Unfortunately a lot of the fields such as assignee, slas, major incident etc, cannot be shared to the customers out of the box. We had to use an external plugin such as extension for service desk by deviniti to display these fields. I'm not sure about the major incident info, but you could ask them.
