Setting the Resolution on closed issues

Jonathan Argue May 28, 2012

Hello,

When we originally installed JIRA, we setup some new issue types to which a Resolution did not apply. We created a field configuration and hid the Resolution field.

Now that we know JIRA better and have read up on best practices, we understand that we should always set the Resolution field to something in order for many of the Jira dashboard gadgets to function as designed.

We understand how we can have the workflow set the value of the Resolution field appropriately - so that isn't an issue for new issues.

My question is around what to do with all our closed issues. Is there a recommended way to set the resolution without having to re-open the issued and then re-close them with the resolution filled in?

Either in the db directly or better, use bulk fix resolutions from the script runner plugin.
