Setting permissions to a user in JIRA to be issue specific within a project

Stas Likane November 28, 2012

Hey,

I have a project with a large number of issues, one of which needs to be monitored by an external party.

I have set up a new JIRA user and want to provide access to a single issue within the project without allowing access to all the issues within the project.

To do so, I've set up a Security Level specific to the selected user and myself, and set the security level of the issue to the newly defined security level.

An issue security Scheme has also been created mapped to the specific project.

For some reason, the user is still not able to access the issue within JIRA.

Nothing has been changed in Project permissions (Issue Permissions).

Any ideas as to what I'm missing?

Hi there,

I'm thinking about the user doesn't actually have the permission Browse Project in the project's permission scheme yet.

Adding the user in the Issue Security level and set the issue to have that security level won't really give the user to view it yet.

JIRA permission level for users to view issue would be something like:

Global Permission(to login if the site not public)->Project Permission(Browse Project)->Issue Security

Hope this helps.

Fahd
