Set custom field default value on incoming email


I need to create issues from incoming mails. I have configured Incoming mail server and mail handler for the same.

I have a created a custom field Requester which most of the times it is the same as the reporter, however it could be changed, how would I set on incoming emails the default value of the custom field Requester  should be the value of the reporter.

Please suggest any solution.

One possible way to handle this would be to set a default value for the custom field itself, as described in this documentation. This will always cause the field to be set to the default value, regardless of how the issue is created (email or manually through the interface), so it may not be the best solution.

This page would explains how to select a specific default value for my custom User Picker field on all requests. In my situation I would like to set the default value of this custom field to the value of a built-in field.
