Set an estimation for sub-issues

Hi all,

i am new with JIRA administration. Former I was using it as a developer.

Our Plan:
1. everybody defines issues
2. issues get separated in subissues
3. our projekt adminstrator plans our sprints by issues which have an estimation.

our Problem:
Subissues cannot get an estimation...
Is there any way to setup an estimation?

We use JIRA on *.atlassian.net. Could not even find the option mentioned in the second of your links

"Choose > Issues. Select Screens > Screen Schemes"

Sub-tasks can get an original estimate on them, if you add the time tracking fields to the screens corresponding to sub-tasks. and you can add time estimates by editing the sub-task.

However, if you are using jira-agile then it is a different story altogether.
