See Story Point rollup to Initiative as a value

Frank Castellucci October 8, 2024

I am using plan and include from Initiative to Story hierarchy. I have the Estimation set to Story Point in the Plan settings and I have 'Other' checked in the Rollup Section of the View Settings.

However; I would like to see the total number numeric value in the rollup and not the gauge line graphic, is this possible?

Hello @Frank Castellucci

This should be possible.

Have you tried adding the Story points field to the Fields section?

I have not yet figured out a scenario where "Progress (story points)" is available but "Story points" is not.

Neither is available if my Plan references Team Managed projects, even if every Team Managed project has Estimation set to Story points.

What project types are included in the Plan? Are they all Company Managed Software, or are there non-Software or Team Managed projects included?

Atlassian Cloud Jira
They are all Company Managed Projects and they are all 'Jira - software project' Project types.

The only difference in the types is that the highest level (Capability, 1 above Epic) does not have 'Story Points' enabled.

Hello @Frank Castellucci

I apologize for my delayed response.

Are you still experiencing this problem? If not, could you share the solution?

If you are experiencing the problem, can you provide some additional information?

In your original post you said:

I am using plan and include from Initiative to Story hierarchy.

And in your last response you said:

The only difference in the types is that the highest level (Capability, 1 above Epic) does not have 'Story Points' enabled.

Can you clarify for us the Issue Type Hierarchy configuration for your instance?

Thanks Trudy, but the issue has been resolved.

In Plan you just don't get a numeric rollup value for Story Points but a graph image that, when clicked, provides story point summary (a few fields).

This is fine as when exported it does include columns for the field summary and that satisfies the user.

Regards,

Frank

@Trudy Claspill

In the Timeline view I see this when I drop down Fields there is Progress (story points) but not standalone Story points field
