Search was cancelled There were too many results

Hi Team, 

I keep getting this error on  my JIRA boards, I do think my boards have that many issues so I am not sure why I am getting this and how to fix it . It always shows on the top right hand corner for the page 

"Search was cancelled
There were too many results. Current Jira configuration limit was exceeded ().

• Narrow your search criteria
• Contact your Jira administrator to increase limit on the jira.search.views.default.max property."

I am making the assumption that you are on server.  Search on server is limited to 1,000 issues by default but can be changed.  You will need to work with you Jira administrator to make the change.  Information on how to do so can be found here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/how-to-increase-the-jira-search-results-limit-on-the-issue-navigator-357696242.html
