Same user and group in Internal and LDAP directory

Deleted user November 14, 2014

Hi,

i have let say a user "user1" in group "group1". User1 and Group1 are created both in internal JIRA directory and external LDAP directory (don't ask why, internal politics) . In JIRA User directory section, the LDAP is at top.

Example:

LDAP

user: user1

group: group1

Internal JIRA directory

user: user1

group: group1

After syncronization if any user (in this case "User1") is in internal and LDAP directory in the same group (Group1), the same user lost his connection to the group, and because of this he can't access JIRA.

After syncronization:

user: user1

group:

Main question:

Why does the user get lost from the group after sincronyzation?

Best Regards,

Ivan

Hello Ivan,

did you find any solution?

A customer of mine ran into the same problem.

Cheers,

Christian

It doesn't have anything to do with the internal user directory. Looks like LDAP setup is either not pulling the groups or not pulling the memberships. You have to check your directory settings.

The LDAP is setup fine, because the user was fine before. We add the same user to JIRA's internal directory and after that we made a syncronization. Maybe JIRA is confused as it state here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Managing+Multiple+Directories "Avoid duplicate usernames across directories"
