Same Google Auth for two separate Atlassian Cloud instances?

Scott Bourdeau October 19, 2015

A few months back my company was acquired. We were both Atlassian shops, and we are in the process of migrating to one Atlassian Cloud instance. Both of the cloud instances use Google Authentication.

We are not ready to completely get rid of one of the cloud instances, but since we are very close to eliminating one of the Google accounts, I was wondering if both of our Atlassian Cloud instances could be connected up to the same Google account now, and what the right steps would be to make this happen?

Our JIRA instance now has users with email addresses like jim@acquiredcompany.com. Since the acquiredcompany.com Google account is going away, is it as simple as first editing all acquiredcompany.com email addresses for users in JIRA, changing them to acquiringcompany.com email addresses, then in User Administration reconfiguring the Google Apps connection to point to the acquiring company's Google Apps?

Any help you can provide here is appreciated,

Thanks,

sbourdea

Hello Sbourdea,

You can certainly link both Atlassian Cloud instances to the same GApps account: How to Change Google Apps Domain in Atlassian Cloud Instances

In order to have a smooth transition to the new domain, make sure every username in the old domain of Google Apps is the same as in the new domain in order to merge the usernames. For more information, see Managing Username Conflicts.
