Risks with JIRA on the Internet

I will tomorrow join a risk workshop for a customer where they today are running JIRA and Confluence inhouse. They now want to open up so that users without a vpn-connection can use JIRA and Confluence.

We will list hazards and see what the risks are and try to minimize them. I am very thankful for any input here.

Hi Susanne, if you're familiar with Apache, you may implement it as instructs this doc. Apache can potentially increase security as it has mechanisms to prevent some kind of attacks.

Also, if possible, it's best to configure the cross-application communication directly without going through Apache as it may erroneously block the communication with other Atlassian products if it's not configured properly.
