Resolved backlog tasks not accessible from Agile anymore

Once you close(resolve, move to Done) an issue directly from the backlog list (not sprint list), using the Details Menu-> More Actions -> Done, the issue will disappear and won't be accessible from the board or backlog. If you go to the issue manually (via issue search screen) and click View on Board you'll get "There are no boards which contain this issue." message. 

Without going to the Issue Search screen we're not able to tell if there are issues closed like that... we may miss some tasks that way....

 

Any ideas if this is a bug or just expected result?

What does the board filter say, and does an issue "done" this way still match it?

That is the default Simplified Agile Workflow and the filter is project = SCRUM ORDER BY Rank ASC

I just created a Kanban Board on top of the same project and the Issue appears in the "DONE" column.

Tested on JIRA 6.3.15 and JIRA 7.3.

 

So apparently if you close an issue which is still in the backlog it will not be accessible on the Scrum Board or Backlog Screen anymore... you have to find it using the Issue Search (or use a Kanban board for a scrum project smile)

I've not expected that.....

Well, no, because you closed it without putting it into a sprint.  Closed issues don't have any place in the backlog, and if it's not in the sprint, it's not going to be on the board.

I can see that, but I think resolved issues should appear somewhere on the backlog screen. There could be a link "Resolved backlog items" to indicate such tasks.

A task can be resolved by mistake and wont be accessible from the board. And missed at the end..

Er, no, if an issue is resolved, it should not be in the backlog.  The whole meaning of "resolved" is "nothing else needs doing with this", and a backlog is there to show you "stuff that needs dealing with".  By definition, resolved issues should never be in a backlog.
