I create a custom field "document report URL" and i want this field to be only on the resolve issue screen . I added the field to resove issue screen .
I made the custom field required . But it is also reguired in the create issue field also .
I do not want the field to be reqired on the create issue screen . I want it to be required only on the resolve issue screen .
Can anyone help ?
It is a known issue. If you make the field required, it is needed even when the issue is created irrespective of whether it is in the create screen or not.
Instead use "Fields Required" workflow validator from JIRA Suite utilities plugin.
No. Jobin's answer is correct. Two points:
Jira only supports "field is mandatory or optional". There is no consideration in workflow - either the field is mandatory and required on create and cannot be blanked/removed, or it's optional all the way through the lifecycle. If you make a field mandatory in this way, then you *must* put it on the create screen.
If you want to enable "mandatory during workflow", you need a plugin that provides a "mandatory validator" of some sort.
