Reporter is not logged in user

We have a project where when issues are created in the project the Reporter is not the logged in user but we can't see why this would be the case. There are no transitions/actions being recorded.

They are not the component lead but need some ideas on where else to look.

You may even have the most simple case - the reporter is a field on the screen, the user entering the issue has "modify reporter" permission, and they're selecting a user other than themselves.

1. Check the Create step post function in workflow, whether you set the Reporter value or not.
2. Check the description of Reporter in Field Configuration, whether any javascript is present.
3. Check the issue history, if it is getting updated by some other means immediately after you create the issue.
