Reply to a particular comment in an issue

Within an issue in a JIRA project there may be 100 issues. If comment number 20 poses a question or makes a statement is there a way to reply in a new comment (comment #101) to state that your reply is in response to comment #20? This feature is widely available in other issue tracking systems but I cannot see it available within JIRA. The question has been posed many times in the past but the replies I can see date back to 2012 and the feature was not available.

Hi Malcolm,

Jira does not allow it, yet. Though, there is a kind of workaround, which is to reply to the comment via email. More info: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AOD/Creating+Issues+and+Comments+from+Email#CreatingIssuesandCommentsfromEmail-issuecommentcreationIssue/commentcreation

I went a little further and created a Feature Improvement request with the dev team. You can follow it here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-39309

Any further question, please, don't hesitate to ask! :)

Cheers!

Many thanks Elisa, I'm sure this will be a welcome new feature to many users.

I am afraid the feature request in the other response is a duplicate. The origilan feature request is JRA-3406.
