Hi,

I have installed JIRA and now am able to access through a local network. However the organization wants the url to be able to function outside the network too.For that we have to set up SSL but dont know how to proceed. Please help.

We have a remote linux server on which jira is installed .

We connect through SSH.

Thank you,

With "outside the network" you mean "Internet"?

To secure your internal network you would typically setup some server, Apache HTTP Server or IIS, which has a trusted connection to your local Jira and can serve the HTTPs thingy as well, quite easy.
