Re-indexing and automated back. Can both run in parallel.

On our instance we have automated xml backups taken everyday at 2 PM. Now, I have a re-indexing slot booked from 10 AM onwards and on our instance the re-indexing takes 9 hours. So, will it be a problem when the automated back-up kicks in at 2 PM when the re-indexing is going on in the background.?

Will you have memory enough? cpu? This is quite a big task.

I believe the xml backup pretty much just reads from fb and create the xml file. While the re-index will also read from db and change a bunch of files...pretty sure the reindex doesn't change anything on the db. So you should be fine if you have hardware enough.

In any case, best thing is to test it first...
