Issue keys in pre-version 5.0 were searchable and would link directly to the issue when typed in the quick search.
This functionality has broken with projects that have underscores.
Still works for issues with projects that do not have underscores.
You need to ensure that the Project Key Pattern (jira.projectkey.pattern) is configured in the Administration » General Configuration » Advanced to allow underscore in addition to the default two or more uppercase alphabetical characters - See 'Configuring Project Keys'.
For example, '([A-Z0-9_][A-Z0-9_]+)' should allow you to both use and search for Project Keys using underscore and numbers (e.g. 'MY_2PROJ-1').
JIRA by default doesn't accept underscores as a project key. Since this is the case, may I know what is the current project key pattern configured, in the Advanced section of General Configuration? Did you made any changes to the project key pattern recently, and if yes, can you kindly try to switch the pattern to include the underscores then see if issue keys with underscore is searchable again from the Quick Search?
