Profile Status on Jira

On Confulence there is the option to click on your profile and change your current status (from what i have read btw) - is there a way on Jira to set my profile status to 'BUSY' for example? This is so people who are looking to assign work to me know i am currently busy or people within a filter group i am included on know i am currently busy? If this is possible - can i set other status options such as 'In Meeting' etc

In order to see a connection status, etc you're going to need to integrate JIRA with HipChat.
