I guess you mean to see it in the 'Issue Detail View', right? When you click an issue, it opens a panel on the right with the information on that issue.
To add fields to the 'Issue Detail View', configure your board and click 'Issue Detail View'. Here you'll be able to add custom fields to this view and see those as you need.
