We had the situation that the JIRA partition was full and the chart macros and attach screenshot-functionality stopped working.

Is there any tool/plugin that monitor the disk space and send mails if the free space is below a set limit?

No, although it wouldn't be hard to write one.

However, I wouldn't recommend it - JIRA is an issue tracker, not a system monitor.  You should really be monitoring servers with software designed for that purpose (although when you get disk alerts, you can log them in JIRA).  If you implement something for disk space, you'll probably find something else you need to watch, then another, then another then another...  and rapidly find JIRA is the wrong place to do it.

There are lots of open-source (effectively free) monitoring tools out there as well as paid ones, it might be worth a bit of reading and then getting a basic one.
