Permissions with multiple clients

Rafael Nogueira August 17, 2014

We are using Jira + Confluence and we're having some problems when configuring the permissions for our clients.

Our scenario is:

1. We have a lots of projects inside the company from different clients

2. The clients need to have restrict access to Jira and restric access inside the spaces on Confluence

3. The client should be able to see only his projects on the Dashboard, he cannot go through / see any other project.

Our attempts

1. Create one group per client. This will be a real mess after setting up more than 50 clients.

2. Create one permission scheme per client. The same problem as above

Do Jira / Confluence have one solution out-of-the-box to solve this?

Do you have one project per client? If it is project-based and not issue-based, you should be able to only grant them "Browse" permissions and create a group in Jira, Crowd or your LDAP (depending on your configuration) to define who has permission to browse what project by group or role. Then you could grant group permissions to a particular role.

You can do the same thing with Spaces in Confluence.
