Permissions to manage a large group

Frankie Cleary May 14, 2014

Hi there,

I'm having trouble to assign the permissions for a large group of developers. We have different projects and right now all of the developers are able to see all the content for each project, when actually the information should be private and viewed only by those working on it. I tried creating different groups and setting different permissions to all of them, but seems like it didn't change anything.

Sincerely,

Nathalia

Hi Nathalia,

It sounds like you have changed the permissions within your projects so that the permissions are based on the new smaller groups you created, rather than the developers group.

For example - if you've created groups developers-project-A, developers-project-B etc, then you'll need to edit project-A's project roles to replace the developers group with developers-project-A group (and similarly for project-B etc). See https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AOD/Managing+Project+Rolesfor more.

You should also check your project permissions for project-A and B are based on the Project Role (Developers) rather than the developers group. See https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AOD/Managing+Project+Permissionsfor more.

You should also check that the global permissions are not giving the developers group access to all projects.

Hope this helps,

Cheers

Mel
