OpsGenie move to Jira alerts checklist availability

Johan Pulles November 19, 2024

Remark: In the meantime all available alerts are available in JSM in our organization.  Besides that we are still running OpsGenie. Both platforms are showing the alerts.

I understood that there is a certain guide available for admins like:  Set up operations and complete your move to Jira Service Management | Jira Service Management Cloud | Atlassian Support

I have multiple questions:

Until when will OpsGenie be available? Or is there none deadline / end date to use OpsGenie? Is there anywhere a checklist available that you can follow as an ORG admin?

But how do I know for sure that all the alerting from before (in OpsGenie) is available in Jira alerting and how do I know if from now on the notifications are from no-reply@jsm-notifications.atlassian.net? Instead of the OpsGenie variant.

Most importantly; Is there an en-masse opportunity to verify or check if all the (API) integration rules are still working?

Hi Johan,

Thanks for reaching out to Atlassian Community.

Answering the questions inline -

Until when will OpsGenie be available? Or is there none deadline / end date to use OpsGenie? Is there anywhere a checklist available that you can follow as an ORG admin?

At the moment, we don't have information on when standalone Opsgenie will no longer be available for sale. If you have a specific checklist you're interested in, it would be helpful if you could share it with us.

But how do I know for sure that all the alerting from before (in OpsGenie) is available in Jira alerting and how do I know if from now on the notifications are from no-reply@jsm-notifications.atlassian.net? Instead of the OpsGenie variant.

The question about alerting isn't entirely clear, but I believe you're looking to verify the count of alerts. You can easily perform a quick check to confirm this. Rest assured, we are confident that everything is properly synchronized, and there is no risk of missing any alerts. If your site is in a transition state, you can still access the OpsGenie GUI. Once you disable the GUI, you will begin receiving notifications directly from no-reply@jsm-notifications.atlassian.net

Most importantly; Is there an en-masse opportunity to verify or check if all the (API) integration rules are still working?

At the moment, there isn't an automated method to verify this, but you can manually check if alerts are being generated for each integration in the system. To date, we have successfully migrated a large number of customers, and all integrations are working as expected.

Hope this clarifies.

Hi Anusha,

Thanks for your answers and reply.

About the mentioned topics.

1) I am still searching for an available checklist to know all the topics that you have to keep in mind as an ORG admin from Jira when dealing with the move from OpsGenie towards Jira alerting in Jira itself.

Question: Is such an checklist available on the support site or somewhere else?

2) & 3) Yes, I would like to compare the count of the alerts. But I am also looking at a way to verify the (API) integrations via an more automated way instead of doing it manually.

For example: How can I utilize a list of Integrated API's from OpsGenie or in Jira?
And can I get an overview (export) of the integrated settings from our current instance to fetch the Create/Close/Ignore rules for the integrations?

To get an overview of all the integrations and to be sure everything is covered also in the current Jira alerting situation:)

Are there any helpful knowledge base articles about this? Or a movie to follow in this area?

Hi Johan,

To assist you more effectively, I have created a support ticket to involve our Opsgenie experts. You should have already received the ticket details, and our experts will help you further.

Have a great day ahead :)
