Only display the titles of the issues in a cross-project board overview

Pablo Börsch June 3, 2022

Hi all,

we want to ensure greater transparency and planning capability in the company. Therefore, we would like to have a company-wide project with a general board and several team-specific boards.

Thanks to the filter function, this is easily possible, BUT because our projects deal with confident information we have individual permission schemes, hence not every employee has access to all issues. As a result, with limited permissions, the overview isn't really helpful.

We are looking for a way to display only issue titles in a cross-project board overview to provide a solution to the overview without disregarding confidential documents. One possible approach would be:

Alter the permission scheme in Jira into 4 categories:

  1. company-wide
Every employee sees all projects and the tickets they contain (title, assignee, status only) - read only
  2. project team member & project manager
In their projects, they see all details per ticket - read & write permission on all tickets
  3. client project team
In their projects, they see all details per ticket - read or write permission as needed
  4. administrators
    Administrative access to all projects

Unfortunately, we couldn't find any solution on how to create these permissions.

To start, you would need to give everyone browse access and then restrict them from all other fields in the projects. Since Jira doesn't have field level security I don't believe it is possible.
