Only Jira admins can start a sprint

Bernardo San Juan July 2, 2015

Hi,

In our OnDemand instance we have the issue that only JIRA administrators can start sprints in a scrum board. Our initial assumption was htat due to the fact that our boards are based on more than one project, only those users with project admin permissions in all projects (and admin permissions on the board) in which the boards are based could start a sprint. But that is not the case.

How can we deal with this? we do not want JIRA admins to be the only ones who can start a sprint.

Is there a way to administer the board permissions?

Cheers

Hi Bernardo,

An user can only create a new sprint if he has the 'Administer Projects' permission in all projects included in the board's backlog. Please note there's a feature request to improve Sprint permissions(GHS-5035).

Thanks and regards,

Your board may cover multiple JIRA projects. Please note, you must have Admin role  JIRA for all projects included in the board filter to start a sprint.
