Notifications not working on App

I am using the Trello app on a Macbook Air. I have set several deadlines on board with dates and times, and  I never receive an email reminder. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? I do receive taco trello emails, so I know I am receiving something from Trello. There are no Trello emails going to my junk folder either.
