Notification Emails in JIRA

Hello,

We recently upgraded to JIRA 5.0.6 from 4.4. Previously, the emails that were being sent had a particular HTML format (not the plain text version) that our users were accustomed to. Is there a way to revert back to the old email templates?

I'm not sure if the format or api calls from the old templates are compatible with this new version so any help is appreciated.
