Need to migrate open issues from an externally hosted Jira system to our own local Jira system

Currently we use a Jira system hosted by a third party. Recently we installed our own local Jira system. Now we need to migrate over the open issues. But we also need to migrate them into a different project in the new system. How do we do this?

Atlassian support did not have an answer. So we just manually entered any tickets that needed to be carried over.
