Need to change the username in the account details

Donncha Daly November 21, 2012

The person who initially setup our JIRA has left the company. I need to remove his name as the 'Account Name' and anywhere else his name is attached to our JIRA installation and insert my own as the JIRA poin of interface.

How do I go about this?

Do you have access to your my.atlassian.com account? I am iintrepreting your question as who has point of contact with Atlassian verses just renaming a user. Is that correct?

If you are using 5.1 or greater, you can deactivate the user and reclaim the user count in your license. This might be a better approach if my interpretation of your question is correct.

You might need to update your Jira's general options if that user is listed as the adminstrator account. Scroll down to "Contact Administrators Form or Message"

You have two main options here to rename the username:

  1. Searching and replacing in the XML backup - see Changing Usernames;
  2. Use the third-party plugin Script Runner, which has a built-in function to rename usernames - Rename UserID;

I hope this helps!
