Need Your suggestions to get view of linked issues in "Plans"/ "Advanced roadmap"

Srujan kumar May 6, 2022

We have an "Epic" and under that epic we have "Features" linked. To that linked "Features" we do have few "Stories" linked to it and to those "Stories" we have some "Subtasks" linked. I need your help to get a view of these all from an hierarchy level to the ground level. Could you please help to achieve this so that I can generate a report.

Hi @Srujan kumar

If you are fine with a marketplace app to visualize the tree hierarchy based on the issue links, try out

Issue Hierarchy Reports

Key features:

  • Hierarchy upto 10 levels deep
  • Progress % on "remaining estimate" or "original estimates"
  • Edit Issue summary, time estimates, story points and assignee on the tree with real time updates in the progress
  • Rolled up percentage completion at all levels
  • Ability to add/remove the columns on the report

Hi @Srujan kumar

In Advanced Roadmaps, the basic hierarchy consists of the 3 issue levels in Jira:

  1. Epic
  2. Standard issues types (Task, Story, Feature, ...)
  3. Subtasks

You can only add new levels above the Epic level, not between Epic and Standard issue types.

Possible:

  1. Program
  2. Initiative
  3. Epic
  4. Story
  5. Sub-task

Impossible:

  1. Epic
  2. Feature
  3. Story
  4. Sub-task

Please note that the issue hierarchy defined is valid for all plans and cannot differ per plan.
