I have defined an automation rule in jira to send me emails on scheduled days. It has to lookup issues which have a due date in next 5 days and send me mail notification. The rule I have written runs success but no email is coming.

Hi @Mohamed Athaulla D S and welcome to the Community!

A couple of things to check here:

  • what makes you say "the rule runs successfully"? Does the audit log mark it as successful? Does it tell you that emails have been sent?
  • if the rule does indeed send messages out, that just means Jira has processed the email and sent it out. It cannot verify if it arrives, though, as this part is controlled by any additional systems involved in processing email. The email may have been sent by Jira, but I may have landed in your spam folder or have been blocked by email security of your (company's) mail server. So check those if the rule has indeed sent out the messages.

Hope this helps!

Hi Walter, I'm having the same issue.  I created a very simple automated rule to send an email when anyone creates a new ticket.  The audit log indicates success.  I receive emails from JIRA when a user tags me or assigns an issue to me so I don't think there is anything blocking me from receiving the email.  I checked my spam folder and don't see anything.

Hi @Katrina Rideaux

First thing, as this is an older thread, I recommend creating a new question.  That will ensure the maximum number of people see it to offer suggestions.

When you create your new question, note that context is important for automation questions.  Please include the following in your question:

  • what is the problem you are trying to solve; that is, "why do this?"
  • an image of your complete automation rule
  • images of any relevant trigger, actions, conditions, or branches
  • an image of the audit log details showing the rule execution
  • explain what is not working as expected and how you know that

Kind regards,
Bill
