Moving to new server and upgrade too - what do to

Carsten Beck-Astrup September 16, 2012

We want to move the JIRA installation to a new server. But also, we want to upgrade to JIRA 5.1.x from 4.4.5.

Should we install 4.4.5 on the new one, and then upgrade to 5 or can we install JIRA 5 and then just import the backup?

(we are also moving from an Oracle 10 scheme to an Oracle 11 scheme, so we cant just move the pointer in JIRA to the database).

We also use Greenhopper - I suppose the upgrade of the plugin itself (after import of data) will upgrade the data used by GH.

The best way would be to install 5.1.x and import the backup - we did the same as we moved from 4.4 to 5.0 and there were no problems (also with greenhopper included).

Do you expect any specific issues - besides the database change?
