Moving projects from one JIRA server to another

Sam Haider May 27, 2014

I am tring to migrate JIRA from one environment to another, the issue i have is that the new environment does not have the same ad accounts setup and the user cannot be migrated. So because of this we want to import all the projects and the associated issues only from the old JIRA server to the new new JIRA server. HELP?

Sam, you can export your data from your source instance (Administration>Export&Import) then you can import just the selected project using the project import.

You will have to do some manual mapping work as the target instance might not have the issue types, workflows, schemes, etc) but once done issues should be migrated with all metadata without an issue.

Here is a page with some detailed project import/restore information:

It fails because the LDAP is not able to authenticate...

Is there a way to move just projects and issues?

Sam,

You tried the XML export and import already?
