Most tested out version of JIRA

Leena Bakshi September 19, 2017

Hi All,

Would someone be able to help me finding the most tested version of JIRA or say the most stable one in comparison of others.

We want to implement Single Sign On in our environment was thinking about ver 7.3.3 and I understand that there is already 7.5 in the market. And we dont want to be too behind.

Also the way to implement SSO is only through Crowd or some third party add on? If yes, does any one have a better experience with any add on or say not so good experience with their add on?

Thanks a lot

Leena Bakshi

Hi Leena,

Few questions for you.

  • How big is your instance in terms of users?
  • Are you currently running Data Center?

If you are running an Enterprise version and require guidance on these type of questions, you should consider Premier Support and Technical Account Management from Atlassian. They will be able to guide you further.

If you are using Data Center and want to configure SAML (SSO) - refer to the docs at https://confluence.atlassian.com/enterprise/adding-saml-integration-to-your-existing-user-management-infrastructure-861244976.html

https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.atlassian.plugins.authentication.atlassian-authentication-plugin/server/overview

If you are using Server deployment, Crowd provides single sign-on (SSO) across a number of applications. This means that users can log in just once, then access the applications without having to log in to each one individually. The SSO functionality is available for applications within a single domain, such as JIRA, Confluence and others.

For more info on Crowd SSO, refer to https://confluence.atlassian.com/crowd/overview-of-sso-179445277.html

Hope that helps.

Bhushan
