Modify menu bar on View Issue screen

We have created variants of Story and Sub-Task where the intent is that "A-Story" shall have "A-Sub-Task" and "B-Story" shall have "B-Sub-Task" as dependent issues.

I would now like to modify the menu bar for view issue so that the "More" menu alternative "Create Sub-Task" creates the correct type of Sub-Task without the having to select it on the create screen.

Is this possible?

Hi Harken,

This is not something that can be achieved natively in Jira, and is not something that is going to be considered natively for the reasons discussed in this feature request to add this in as a new feature:

So, moving forward you will want to look into the noted Add-on apps that can accomplish this at varying levels, there is a short list of marketplace apps in the most recent Status Update on the request labeled "Atlassian Update – 6 March 2018" 

We recommend checking out the following apps on the Atlassian Marketplace:

• Power Scripts for Jira Script Automation
• Issue Type Filters
• Workflow Essentials for Jira 

As well as other options listed in the comment section of the feature request by other users indicating workarounds they used, such as using a scripted vaslidator  via ScriptRunner
