Migration path from JIRA ondemand to JIRA download

Lanre Kalejaiye February 19, 2013

Today we tried to import issue data from our JIRA ondemand to the current installation, V5.2.2. The data was created by the export function in JIRA ondemand, the handling was done as described in the JIRA documentation (https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Restoring+Data).

Unfortunately we get the following error messages:

Error message from Project Import:

This data appears to be from an older version of JIRA. Please upgrade the data and try again. The current version of JIRA is at build number '843', but the supplied backup file was for build number '6025'.

Error Message from Restore System:

The xml data you are trying to import seems to be from a newer version of JIRA. This will not work.

Any idea what we can do?

Thanks & best regards,

Lan

Hi Lan,

See this page for exact steps on how to migrate from OnDemand to a JIRA Installed Site:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Migrating+from+JIRA+OnDemand+to+a+JIRA+Installed+Site

Specifically note the Version Matrix for imports since the date(version) the export was created on needs to match up with a compatible version of JIRA when importing.
