Migration from subversion to Git

Chris Corless September 26, 2012

I'm not certain if this is the place to ask this question. If not, please let me know where I can some help with this. I also have to admit that my knowledge of Atlassian products and terminology is pretty poor. However, here goes.

Our company currently uses a (OnDemand) subversion repository hosted by Atlassian. We would like to have that repository migrated from subversion to git. Can Atlassian do this for us? What would we need to do from our end for this to happen? And what would happen with our existing Jira issues?

The migration is not urgent, and we would need to plan it during a 'down phase'. I'd just like to know what we'd need to do from our end.

Hi, OnDemand doesn't support Git internally. The only Git support provided is via Bitbucket / Github. Would this suit your needs?

If not, you will have to either get your entire solution hosted by a 3rd party vendor or to stick with SVN.

Thank you. In fact, Atlassian has since sent out notifications about this very issue.
