Migrating from TeamForge to Jira - is there a best way?

I've recently been tasked with migrating from TeamForge to Jira. What are some things that I should consider? Are there any tools available to assist in migration?

Hello Carl

We have a plugin called JIRA IMporters plugin (JIM), which is by default bundled with every JIRA instance. JIM has multiple dedicated importers from external issue tracking systems, unfortunately TeamForge is not among them. But we have two importers which can do the import from pre-prepared files:

CSV Importer (Documentation: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Importing+Data+from+CSV)

JSON Importer (Documentation: https://confluence.atlassian.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=293830712)

Both should do the trick, you can choose the one which you feel more comfortable with. Please note that JSON Importer is more powerful - e.g. you have a full control over issue history and worklogs, but JSON format could be more difficult to prepare.

Cheers,

Przemek
