Migrate from Jira to Jira - different configurations

Petra Goldstein March 12, 2015

Hi,

Due to a merger, I am migrating from a cloud Jira to a local Jira.

The issue is that these are two different configurations: The cloud instance has some 5 projects which are to be reorganized into a single local project (in order to be inline with other projects that we have). The components from the cloud projects will be renamed appropriately to still distinguish between the different areas.

Do I have to script this?

The backup/restore seems to allow no mappings, as far as I can tell, it just provides a 1:1 import.
The csv import has some mapping capability, but the backup (from the cloud) is xml. (also, I am not sure it imports history and some other stuff)

What are my options?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

Something that you could do is fully migrate your Cloud instance to a clean Server one, then you can use the project import tool from the new JIRA server to your current one.

Best Regards.
