Migrate all users from Delegated LDAP to Delegated LDAP

Sujata November 9, 2017

We are using JIRA 5.2.11 application.

Currently login authentication is done by  'JIRA Delegated Authentication Directory  '  i.e.  organisation active directory .

I used 'Migrate users from one directory to another' feature to migrate all users from Delegated LDAP to Delegated LDAP as mentioned in https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver072/migrating-users-between-user-directories-828787700.html

and able to migrate the users but  when user tried to login with JIRA it fails.

Also in database the cwd_user table is showing updated directory_id for each user.

Need help to understand,
1. After migration how user authentication will happen?
2. If old directory contains userid e.g.'abcd' and for same user new directory have userid e.g 'ab.cd', then how this mapping will happen.

Thanks,

Sujata

Hey Sujata,

The migrate feature will simply move all users from one directory to the other and continue using the same usernames but authenticating to new LDAP server connected to the new directory.

If the usernames have changed in the new LDAP server, you'll need to manually edit the username in Jira to match the username in the LDAP server.
