Merge User accounts in JIRA

Prevously we had jira users authenticate via local internal directory. We would like the users to authenticate via Active Directory now. The issue we are having is the usernames are identical on the internal directory and AD. In order to have the AD authentication, we need to rename the local user, then the AD username appears on the users list. Now these two users needs to be merged so that all the issues get transferred over to the user in the Actice Directory. Atlassian Support has suggested us about the Script Runner plugin. We are able to rename the local account and merge it with the AD account, but the issues which are "Closed" does not get transferred on the the AD username. We have to "bulk edit" the "closed issues", "reopen" then and then mark as "Resolved". But the "bulk edit" does not let the issues to be changed from "Resolved" to "closed state". As per the work flow we need to have those to be "closed". Also, when we megre the two accounts, if the local user was a "watcher" on the issues, the new AD user does not get become a watcher on those issues. Could you please help us to resolve these issue. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Btw, you can migrate Internal Directory to Internal Directory with LDAP authentication directly within JIRA (if the delegated directory is okay in your case).
