Mass-edit a specific field in many issues at once?

I'd like to edit some 100 issues at once, changing a certain field.

The field value is not the same across all issues, so "bulk edit" does not work. I'd need something like a tabular view.

How can I achieve that?

I'm using the jira excel connector now; it works.
