Lock the change from "automatic" (assignee) by creating an issue

Juliane Di Lascio May 26, 2014

Is it possible to forbid the user to change the assignee when he creates a new issue?

We want our customer should not change the assignee when he creates an issue. We do not use the option, to not assigne an issue. Every issue needs one assignee.

But when we create an issue JIRA allows us to change "automatic" to any other use who has access to this project. Could we deactivate this option?

Hi Juliane,

Like Sana already said : you can simply remove the users group from the Permission 'Assign Issue' in the Permission scheme of your project.

You could also simply remove the assignee field from your Create Screen. To find out which screen you are using for your create screen you should take a look at the Issue Type Screen Scheme of your project.

Best regards,

Peter

There is a permission called Assign Issues that you need to remove from the users that should not be allowed to change the assignee. It should be enough.

Hi Sana,

thank you for your answer. But what happens when I remove this permission. I believe this user cannot change to any other time the assignee, or? So we only need this constriction when the user creates an issue.

Thanks
