Jira upgrade 4.2.4 - > 4.4.5 - > 5.2.11

MarkoR January 12, 2014

Hey,

I am upgrading our jira instance from version 4.2.4 to version 5.2.11 (with version 4.4.5 in between). After fresh installation I just pointed it to my 4.2.4 database and jira performed an upgrade.

There are some messages in log file that I would like to get rid of. I tried with integrity checker but it didn’t help.

1. Each time I start jira I have following info messages in my log file (http://pastie.org/8629168). Line example:

INFO [core.entity.jdbc.DatabaseUtil] Column "AUTHOR" of type "VARCHAR2" of table "jiraaction" of entity "Action" has different type definition and has been changed from VARCHAR2(255) to VARCHAR2(255 CHAR).

Is this normal behavior?

2. Plugin related messages(http://pastie.org/8629178)

Here I have a real problem… Some of these fields are old plugins (overdue and current user) that I do not have in my system, but fields are not visible in custom fields section so I cannot delete them.

Velocity message fields from toolkit plugin are removed in new releases. How can I remove those fields from Jira?

Lastly (ill have to contact plugin vendor for this probably) Jira enhancer plugin… I still have a need for this plugin and I have activated the license but fields are not visible…

Thank you in advance, kind regards.

Hey,

1)It's kind of normal behaviour. Because it shouldn't be there, but it's harmless. You can vote following issue: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-36735

2) Again same harmless errors. It's ok to get those error messages due to reason you noticed. I guess you can only remove those fields from databases which is not supported by Atlassian.
