Jira slow when working on issue(s) but fast to enter/submit

Jon June 5, 2013

Hi all,

We have Jira 5.2 installed. It works well so far, but I am finding complaints from users regarding the performance. It is quick/responsive when submitting issues and coincidentally the users say its quick when logged into the "administration" role, but under ordinary "working with" issues it takes a good 20 - 25 secs of the busy icon spinning before it takes changes. It does let you begin progress and update the issue(s) but its just slow.

The server is as follows:

  • Dell PER620
  • (2) Intel Xeon E5-26667 @ 2.90 GHz
  • 16GB RAM
  • Windows 2008 R2 Standard 64-bit
  • Jira 5.2.7
  • SQL Server installation on local machine

Any help is greatly appreciated! I have about 10 users using this system so it shouldn't be overwelmed with use or anything.

Thanks!

Jon

Hi Jon,

Do you have any application links that are no longer being used in your instance (perhaps the connected application has been deleted/removed)? If yes, please try removing those unused application links, as they can make your issue slows down at times.

Also, could you clarify further on what you meant when you said that it's quick when logged into the 'administration' role? When logged into that role, does the user only perform administrative functions, or do they also work on issues?
