Jira plugin slows down Visual Studio

quophyie April 24, 2013

Hi, I am using visual studio 2010 with the latest atlassian jira plugin (v1.3.8-20130327). However, I have noticed after I installed the plugin, VS became painfully slow and even grinds to halt on certain occassions. After I uninstalled the plugin, VS started being responsive again.

Any clues what could be causing this extreme slowness??

thanks

oh dear - somehow answers thought that the period is a part of the link (not sure why)

Janusz - it's not "answers" really, it's html - we type http:<something> and the url is assumed to end at the next space or line-break because most punctuation is valid in urls. Our browsers have no way of knowing whether we mean to include the character or not, and have to assume that we mean to.

I'm still trying to get into the habit of putting a space on the end of urls when I end sentences with them.

Hi,

You are most likely experiencing bug https://ecosystem.atlassian.net/browse/PLVS-310. The workaround is to disable issue links scanning in text editors - please see the bug description for information on how to do it.

Hi Janusz

Thanks for your reply. However, the link you posted for the workaround i.e. https://ecosystem.atlassian.net/browse/PLVS-310 seems to be broken. Can you please send me the working link for the workaround?

Thanks

Hi, I think that the reason the link was not working is due to the 'period' (.) at the end of the link. Please try accessing it here : https://ecosystem.atlassian.net/browse/PLVS-310

Hi Janunz

The intructions at https://ecosystem.atlassian.net/browse/PLVS-310 seems to have solved the problem. In addition to checking "Disable Scanning Test Editors For JIRA issue Links", I also had to select "For All Files" under the sub options and that solved the problem so I am happy now

Thanks for the help. I can now give the connect a good review! :-)
