Jira ldap migrated to internal jira user database

Jeffrey Lee November 7, 2013

Our LDAP servers are being decommisioned so I am trying to move all the users in Jira from LDAP to the local user database. Is that possible?

Hi Jeffrey, how you doing? =)

There are quite ways to accomplish that. Main point is that the authentication type needs to be changed inside JIRA (so it will rely on the internal directory for authentication, not your LDAP server). There are in fact few improvement requests (JRA-27868) to add the ability to migrate directories inside JIRA. That said, I have two guides that can help you to achieve that.

#1 - How to Export Users to CSV from JIRA - This is good to have handy so you can have your user base backed up in case you need to match something.

#2 - Importing user from LDAP - There is a way to get a script with your LDAP users and then import then to JIRA user base. If you need to match the count of users and the attributes from LDAP, this will be good to have handy, too.

Let us know how that goes!

Cheers,
Pedro
