Jira issue field with URL

Is there an easy way to have a field in Jira with a functionality similar to the Confluence's Shortcut Links?

I would like to be able to enter 123 in a field, and Jira to generate a link to <aConfigurablePrefix>123.

How about applying javascript to a field (text area customfield) which will convert the value inside the field into a link ( <aConfigurablePrefix>123.) on form submission .

Thoughts on how to do that?
