Jira installation - app and web server

Dear Team

can you please help with details as my new to JIRA installation..

Im looking for details to understand:

1. the use of web server and application server configurations needed for a JIRA installation on Unix Box.

2. What is the way to set up JIRA with web and application server

3. how to come up with hardware and db / web server sizing needs based on user count of say 300.

your immediate details would be of great help..

I don't think you got an answer to this earlier because there are a lot of incorrect suppositions in the question.

You do not need a web server to run JIRA.  A lot of us put it behind a proxying web-server for various reasons, but you don't need one.

It comes bundled with an application server already (you can use a different one, but it's a monumental pain, so don't do it)

can anyone provide some information on how JIRA installation can be performed on application server and web server. Also what is the advantage of performing the installations in 2 servers (Application Server & Web Server).
