Jira ignores changes in crowd.settings

emetriq GmbH September 19, 2012

Hi,

i'm just trying to change the "crowd.base.url" and "crowd.server.url" of our confluence installation, because we are trying to migrate crowd to a new system.

I followed parts of https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CROWD/Migrating+Crowd+Between+Servers and https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CROWD/Integrating+Crowd+with+Atlassian+JIRA - I did:

  • added all ips to crowd "remote addresses"
  • shutdown jira
  • changed crowd.settings-file "crowd.server.url and crowd.base.url" ( "localhost" -> "crowd" )
  • started jira

it looks like confluence is ignoring my changes, here my User->User Directories->"Directory Configuration Summary"-settings:

Attributes:
    "application.name": "jira412"
    "application.password": (not shown)
    "com.atlassian.crowd.directory.sync.currentstartsynctime": "null"
    "com.atlassian.crowd.directory.sync.issynchronising": "false"
    "com.atlassian.crowd.directory.sync.lastdurationms": "970"
    "com.atlassian.crowd.directory.sync.laststartsynctime": "1348138078105"
    "crowd.server.url": "http://localhost:8095/crowd"
    "useNestedGroups": "true"

How do I change these "crowd.server.url" within jira?

Thanks a lot,

Fabian Zimmermann

Hi Fabian,

The easiest solution for this is to reconnect the JIRA server to Crowd by creating a new directory, as described in this documentation on the subject. As long as you didn't make any changes to the Crowd application then you can leave that as it is and just reconnect the JIRA to the Crowd.

All the best,
John
